Nepal Case Study – Part Two

In the first part of the case study, we introduced the nature of the study undertaken in Nepal, and reflected on an analysis of the experience of women working at different levels, and how they were affected by violence.

In this second part, we provide you with some further reading materials and resources from the study, and invite you to reflect on the findings.

Readings:

Below you will find reading material and a Powerpoint presentation which will give you further insight relating to the study in Nepal, and the key findings at each of the levels:

As you study these materials consider the following questions, and note down your thoughts in a learning journal.

Which findings did you feel were most important, and at what level(s) of the socio ecological framework were they present? Were there any actions or positive developments that you noted, and if so what can be learned from them?

Further insights from the study

Following that we have a video interview with Menuka Thapa who tells her story of working in Nepal’s informal entertainment sector and explains the important role of Raksha Nepal, the organisation she set up to support women working in this sector.
