Ottis currently works as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Portsmouth and researches violence against women and girls, gender inclusion and the intersections of culture and development. He has a particular interest in harmful cultural practices such as Bride Price, Female Genital Mutilation and Forced Marriage.
Ottis holds a Bachelors’ degree in International Development Studies, a Mres in Politics and International Relations and a PhD from the University of Portsmouth.
In 2020, his PhD thesis, “The Dynamics of Bride Price in Zimbabwe and the UK diaspora”, was published as a book by Vernon Press.
