Consider the following questions and briefly note down your responses:

  1. How would you characterise the context for the women in this short video?
  2. What forms of violence are evident in this video and why is the violence taking place?
  3. Does this form of violence arise in the same way and for the same reasons in other contexts?
  4. Are any of these forms of violence related to the fact that the women are working?
  5. What actions could be taken to ‘empower’ women in this situation?

If you were going to study this form of violence in Pakistan, what topics do you think it would be relevant to explore at each of the four levels of the social ecology framework, to help you fully understand the context?
