Key Learning Points
Our second theme has provided further insights into how the VAW study was designed, highlighting some of the key considerations and features of the framework used to inform the research design and operationalisation.
Some of the key learning points from this second unit of study are:
- When designing a VAW study or intervention there is a need to consider different levels within a socio-economic structure, the wider relationships and linkages with different sectors, and the whole spectrum of violence (not just specific instances and more deviant occurrences)
- Violent behaviours can in many contexts be ‘normalised’, and not confronted or recognised as violence. This needs to be picked up in study design.
- Stakeholder engagement, from an early stage, can be critical in ensuring that a project is successful in meeting its aims, and in having wider influence and impact
