Introduction

This unit starts by completing our tour of important terms and concepts relevant to the study of women’s economic engagement and the links to violence against women.
The main focus for this unit, is a review of what we have learned from the study. This review refers back to the analytical framework, and points to interesting differences in the findings from the three countries, that reinforce the relevance of understanding different contexts.
There are also significant differences in the experiences of women from different economic backgrounds in these three countries.
The unit concludes with the second of our two-part case study, where you can explore in more depth the findings for the country you selected and learn from the study that took place.
Learning Objectives
- To enable students to be familiar with, and able to explain recent research findings relating to women’s economic engagement and violence in the three countries studied in S/SE Asia
- To enable students to understand the implications of the research findings for policy and practice
- Students can identify and analyse factors that contribute to women’s experience of violence whilst engaged in economic activities at different levels
